Sills' voice sounds effortlessly - and wondrously - like Kitty Wells or Patsy Cline winging over the airwaves from a vintage Grand Ole Opry show.” - Vintage Guitar Magazine

"Powerhouse Carolyn Sills is the real deal of throwback country music. She has enough soul, heart, style and swag to convince audiences and listeners that they may have been transported to an era where country swing rules the waves, juke joints were the place to be, and heartache had a kick like a mule... all the lonesome wails, tongue-in-cheek humor, and late night reflection you'd expect from a classic country gem." - Good Times Magazine

“Anyone who can write a brilliant song about pencils is a badass.” - Jody Bird, Southwest Biscuit Company

Hailing from Santa Cruz, CA, Carolyn Sills is a classic American roots musician for the modern world, nodding to her old-school favorites one minute and exploring new ground the next. She's toured the US with both her duo Poi Rogers and her ace Combo, playing stages like the 2024 Monterey Jazz Festival, and the 2025 Strawberry Music and Live Oak Festival. She has released five albums, one doughnut and countless videos to date, all brimming with twangy guitar and non-pedal steel, thanks to her longtime guitarist and songwriting partner, Gerard Egan.

Carolyn’s classic vocal delivery is enhanced by her witty lyrics on unexpected subject matters, which has not only gained her a loyal following, but publication in the ‘Lyrics as Poetry’ book series and free Dixon Ticonderoga pencils. Her 2019 collaboration with Grammy Award Winning engineer Sylvia Massy (Johnny Cash, Rick Rubin) on her original, Marty Robbins based concept album, ‘Return to El Paso,’ earned her a whole new fan base and the title of "Western Swing Female of the Year" from the Academy of Western Artists

Carolyn was nominated alongside Sierra Ferrell, Brennen Leigh and Melissa Carper for the 2023 Western Swing Female Ameripolitan Award and won both the 2018 and 2024 Ameripolitan for Western Swing Group with her Combo. In 2019, she was inducted alongside Gerard Egan into the Sacramento Western Swing Hall of Fame. She is currently focused on her upright bass while touring with Gerard in their wildly original western & gypsy swing/Hawaiian steel guitar duo Poi Rogers, with a new album out May 1st, 2026.
